Robyn apprenticed in 1997 in her field of "Lampwork" art with a master glass designer in Eugene, Oregon. Since that time Robyn's work has continued to evolve and mature. She has marketed her glass pendant creations from Africa to Japan and from Vancouver down the west coast into California.
Creating this form of glass jewelry is an exacting process, requiring patience, a steady hand, knowledge of how colours will change with heat and all the while working with rods of hot hard glass and blow torches operating at temperatures of 1000° F or more. The final finishing process requires each pendant to be baked in a kiln for a short time to set and fully bring out the array of colours in each pendant. Some people refer to Robyn's pendants as similar to the Venetian glass "Millefiore" and then other people liken them to a kaleidoscope. It is all in the eye of the beholder - enjoy your own special pendant and describe it in your own unique way. |
